Rosina (Nehlich) Dockter Aberdeen - Funeral services for Rosina Dockter, 104, of 1224 S High St., and formerly of McLaughlin, S.D., have been set for 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1429 N. Dakota St., Aberdeen, with Pastor Roger Noer officiating. Mrs. Dockter died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at the Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. Burial will be at 2 p.m. MDT Monday, Oct. 25, at the Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, McLaughlin, S.D. Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Rosina Nehlich was born on Oct. 29, 1894, on a farm near Eureka, S.D., to Jacob and Magdalena (Schilling) Nehlich. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith as an infant on Feb. 27, 1895, at Zion Lutheran Church, Eureka. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church, Eureka, in 1908. On Feb. 10, 1914, she married John Dockter at Hosmer, S.D. They spent their early married years on a farm near Hillsview, S.D., with his parents. Later they homesteaded 24 miles northast of McLaughlin, where they lived until they retired in 1967. They lived in Aberdeen for the next two years and then they returned to McLaughlin in 1969. Mr. Dockter died on March 19, 1978, at Mobridge, S.D. In 1992 she moved to Aberdeen where she lived with her daughter until March 8 1993, when she entered the Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. Rosina was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin. Rosina was an ambitious, hard-working homemaker and an excellent caring mother for her family. She was a faithful member of her church throughout her life. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and she always had a colorful display of flowers in her yard both while she lived on the farm and in the city. Survivors include two sons, Gottlieb (Leola) Dockter of Sturgis, S.D., and Walter (Irene) Dockter of McLaughlin, S.D.; two daughters, Anna (Edwin) Dietrich of Renton, Wash., and Frieda (Merton) Bender of Aberdeen; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Rosina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, two brothers, three sisters, two half-sisters, one half-brother, four stepbrothers and one great-grandson. Casketbearers will be Ruben Spitzer, Otto Nehlich, Agon Nehlich, Clarence Nehlich, Elsie Nehlich and Emma Nelson. |
